“Open Door for Youth”, Europe Day celebrated in Tirana

Minister Gjosha: Citizens want their children’s European life built in Albania

Ministry of European Integration, in cooperation with the Assembly of the Republic of Albania, organized in Tirana the event “Open Door for Youth”, on the occasion of the Europe Day.

Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Albania and President-elect Mr. Ilir Meta, Minister of European Integration Ms. Klajda Gjosha, Ambassador of EU to Albania Mrs. Romana Vlahutin, EU Member States diplomatic corps to Albania and representatives of civil society as well as tens of young people attended this event.

Citizens want their children’s European life built in their own country. I would like to stress that regardless of the fact that over the course of years the EU integration process may have appeared rather technical, its only goal is: A better life for our citizens”, Minister Gjosha said while delivering her speech.

Minister Gjosha emphasized that regardless of political color, everyone is delighted for Albania’s achievements in the integration process during the last four years, pointing out the candidate status in 2014 and the positive recommendation on opening accession negotiations in 2016.

“These achievements belong to Albanians, the same as the integration process. Therefore, sincerely, I feel sorry that instead of achieving another victory that is opening of accession negotiations, the country is facing an unreasonable political impasse, which shakes the foundations of democracy, but also the vision for our country’s future”, Minister Gjosha concluded.

Minister Gjosha invited the young people to contribute to the integration process with their energy and vision, paving the way to country’s European future.
